Keeping technology current

With cash in tight supply for most nonprofits, it can be tempting to wait until technology breaks down before thinking about maintenance and upgrades.

But that approach can mean lost time and money, whereas preparation can pave the way for a smoother transition, Chris Peters writes in this article from TechSoup.

This primer can help nonprofits understand the questions they should be asking about their technology and software, and can provide advice on deciding when and how to refresh or replace critical components.

The article was created as part of TechSoup's MainIT Project, an initiative funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation that aims to distribute information about maintaining public computers.
