Foundation giving in 2011 totaled more than $46.9 billion, which was
better than the $46.8 billion in the pre-recession peak recorded in 2008
according to the latest
report released by the Foundation
Center. However, after factoring in
inflation, foundation grants were less than in 2010. Corporate giving surpassed other types of
foundation giving, up six percent.
Independent and family foundations increased giving by less than two
percent while community foundation giving declined slightly.
